Off the west coast of Thailand, there is a small island roughly the size of Singapore called Phuket. Not only are the beaches of the island known throughout the entire world, but the bustling economy which relies on tourism for stability has produced some great Phuket attractions that anyone can enjoy.
If you are visiting the island, you may do well to start your journey by visiting the Thalang National Museum which opened in 1985. It houses ancient artifacts that date back to the island’s war with Burma. It is open daily, except for on national holidays, and is a great place for a family or an interested tourist.
Between the beaches of Nai Han and Kata, there is an area known as View Point. It is a high point on the island which overlooks a vast and scenic view. From the top you are able to see many other beaches and even other islands. Speaking of beaches, you could explore the 3 km stretch of vibrant nightlife and shops near Patong beach. This is one of the most famous beaches in the world and any visitor that is looking for some fun is sure to find it there.
You may also want to visit the famous Two Heroines Monument. It is located in Amphoe Thalang and commemorates the governor’s widow and her sister who lead the islanders to ward off Burmese attackers in 1785. It is perhaps that most well known monument on the island and is frequented by visitors.
The unique culture of the island offers many different Phuket attractions that will suit any vacation. You will be able to find a quiet attraction for you and your family or something a little more saucy if you are feeling a little bit on the the wild side.
